Public Use Data File

Regulations promulgated to implement Section 1921 (45 CFR part 60) went into effect on March 1, 2010. This effectively expanded the information collected and disclosed by the National Practitioner Data Bank. As a result, the NPDB Public Use Data File now includes selected variables from reports on adverse licensing actions against all health care practitioners and health care entities and certain actions taken by peer review organizations and private accreditation organizations in addition to selected variables from medical malpractice payment, clinical privileges, professional society membership, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) reports and Medicare and Medicaid exclusion actions taken by the Department of HHS Office of Inspector General.

This file does not include any information that identifies individual practitioners or reporting entities. The file is designed to provide data for statistical analysis only.

Additionally, this file is updated four times each year to include data as of March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31. The updated file is generally available within two months of the listed dates. The file currently available for download contains disclosable statistical report information received from September 1, 1990 through March 31, 2010.
